great@papworth is a programme dedicated to assisting graduates with disabilities into employment in Eastern England. The service is free to graduates.

Many employers are now looking at how skills gaps in the workplace can be filled by employing a person with a disability, and a growing number of employers now have personnel dedicated to encouraging diversity within their workforce. However, employers may still be unsure how to make their recruitment processes fully inclusive and how to overcome practical issues related to disability if and when they arise. great@papworth provides a tailor-made package of support to graduates with a physical disability (including dyslexia), who want to get into work.

The Prince’s Youth Business Trust (PYBT) assist unemployed people or those with limited means aged between 18 and 30 to set up in business. It provides financial support (loans and grants), on going business advice through a personal Business Mentor and help with PR and marketing opportunities. All applicants must have a viable business idea, have tried unsuccessfully to raise money elsewhere (the Trust is a last resort funder), and, most importantly have the determination to succeed in business. Helping young disabled people is a key priority and the BOOST project offers a one-to-one counselling and business planning service for anyone with a disability considering self-employment. The BOOST project covers the North West, East Midlands and South East regions, and is in addition to the services being delivered by the Trust throughout its network of 39 Area Offices in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. RNIB Self-employment Development Unit promotes self-employment opportunities for visually impaired people in the UK, challenges discrimination and raises awareness of their needs in self-employment

Since 1986 the Unit and it’s predecessor have helped hundreds of visually impaired people set up their own small businesses. It acts as a central enquiry unit for those who are self-employed or thinking of starting a business, providing information on business training, sources of funding and other support through RNIB, Government schemes and other agencies
