Accessibility features implemented on the Focus on Disability Website.

We want Focus on Disability to be assessible for use for everyone. The website is easy to view, and has been designed where possible following guidelines laid down by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI).

Website design

Accessibility features we use but we are always looking for ways to improve our website and make it easier to use.

  • Designing the site for a 1024x768 view so horizontal scrolling is not required.
  • Using meaningful ALT text for all images to provide descriptive text.
  • Using descriptive hyperlink text.
  • Avoiding the use of frames, which are difficult for special browsers to interpret.
  • Using an easy-to-see web colour scheme.
  • Using an easier to read non-serif font type, size and colour.

The website contains a large amount of information and advice and an attempt has been made to find and navigate to topics easily with few clicks. A search facility is on each page and this also makes it very easy to find specific topics very quickly.
